Honda pushes padel: its new ambassador Marta Ortega receives a Honda HR-V e:HEV
Honda Spain continues its commitment to padel, which it began in 2021, this time with a star signing: Marta Ortega as ambassador, who this season will drive a Honda HR-V e:HEV.

You may not know it, but padel is currently the second most played sport in Spain. It has more than 6 million fans, and in 2023 there were more than 100,000 registered players. It is therefore no surprise that a brand such as Honda, which maintains a strong bond with sport, is investing in padel. Honda Spain has been doing so since 2021, sponsoring the Spanish Padel Championship, which continued in 2022, when Bea González and Javier Garrido joined the “Honda team” as ambassadors. In 2023 the link with this sport continued through sponsorship of the Womenalia Tournament. In addition, since 2022 the brand has organised its own Dealership Padel Tournament Honda.
Marta Ortega: an exceptional ambassador
And for the 2024 season, the new ambassador of the Japanese brand is Marta Ortega, one of the world’s leading figures in this sport, who is currently ranked number 6 by the International Padel Federation. A medical graduate, the 26-year-old Spanish player became in 2019 the youngest player to reach world number 1 on the World Padel Tour, and between 2013 and 2023 she has accumulated no fewer than 17 titles.
As part of the collaboration agreement with Honda, Marta Ortega has just received the vehicle she will use this season for her daily travels, a Honda HR-V e:HEV, at an event held in Madrid, where we were present, sharing a fun day with the player and taking an active part, quite literally, in a padel tournament for the attending journalists, organised by the brand for this special occasion.

Marta said she was delighted with her new car: “Besides sharing values such as sportsmanship and the drive to take on challenges in what we do, we share the common goal of conveying these qualities through padel. And that is something I find fascinating from a personal point of view, and it also says a lot about a brand as committed as Honda”, said the player, who is about to start a new season. And she will be getting to training sessions in the Japanese hybrid SUV, a vehicle that stands out for the comfort, versatility and ease of use it offers day to day, as well as for very economical consumption thanks to its self-charging hybrid propulsion system, with which it is easy to achieve averages of around 5.5 l/100 km in mixed use, as we verified in the road test of the Honda HR-V, which you can read here.
