Hyundai Azera, designed for America and dreamed of in Europe

Hyundai continues to deny us the chance to enjoy the Azera, a model that was launched in both the Korean and American markets and that will not arrive in Europe, at least for now. In 2012 it launched the latest generation of the model, the fourth, although they are already preparing the next one, which will arrive throughout 2017. It is a saloon that seeks to find a place in a market where the Audi A6 and the BMW 5 Series compete.
For now, we only have the first sketches of the new generation of the model, which is being manufactured and tested these days. It shows an approach to the Genesis G80, the former Hyundai Genesis, although it keeps elements that have appeared in earlier versions to maintain the look that shapes it and makes it recognisable compared with the brand’s other models.

The Hyundai Azera is very popular in the local market, although in Korea it is sold under the name Grandeur. In the United States it holds a modest second place, behind other models of the brand that are more popular. Even so, the Azera remains a car worth considering in that market, where it is perceived as a more exclusive car with a premium image and a more elegant presence.
The Azera will feature a new design language that will gradually be incorporated into the rest of the brand’s models, with a waterfall-shaped grille, which represents one of the forms that will be part of that new design. The Hyundai Azera is currently built on the same platform used by the second-generation Santa Fe, so it is expected that this will remain the basis for the next generation.
As for the engine, there is no news on novelties in this regard, but they will surely change the current engine, available in several versions to improve its performance, which from the outset is quite high in the current generation. We do not know when they will show the specifications of the version to be sold in the United States, but three important shows are coming up: Los Angeles before the end of the year, Detroit in January and New York in April, so it will most likely be at one of these three. Would you like to see this car sold in Spain?
