The brand has published the first sketch-image of the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 6. It is identical to the Prophecy Concept from 2020!

The brand continues developing its upcoming fully electric saloon, the Ioniq 6. It has just published a conceptual sketch of its future car. Likewise, the South Korean carmaker has been quite open about the fact that the Ioniq 6 will look very similar to the Prophecy Concept unveiled in March 2020. This sketch confirms that this will be the case, as the profile of the Ioniq 6 appears practically identical to the concept.

The key design elements of the upcoming electric saloon visible in this preview include the car’s curvilinear silhouette and its large wheels. We can also see that it features a large duckbill-style rear spoiler, similar to the spoiler on the Prophecy Concept. The rear overhang of the production car also appears largely identical to the concept.

Other key details of the Ioniq 6’s exterior design will be its pixel-style headlights and taillights, similar to those of the Ioniq 5 and the new Hyundai Staria.

Hyundai has yet to publish a preview of the car’s interior, but last year a prototype was spotted in Korea, giving us an idea of what to expect from the cabin. That prototype was equipped with digital cameras instead of traditional rear-view mirrors and also featured a floating centre console that could slide forwards and backwards, like the one found in the Ioniq 5. The car will also come with a digital instrument cluster, an advanced head-up display and a large infotainment system similar to other Hyundai models.

The basis of the upcoming Ioniq 6 will be the same E-GMP platform as the Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and Genesis GV60. Hyundai has previously confirmed that it will feature a 73 kWh battery pack and will be offered with two different powertrains. The first will consist of a single 215 CV electric motor, while the second model will feature a 308 CV dual-motor system. Everything points to Hyundai aiming to offer a range of more than 482 kilometres on a single charge.
