Hyundai prepares its most sustainable electric vehicle, the Ioniq 2
The Korean brand is preparing a new electric model that aims to occupy its place in the segment of urban and low-cost electric cars.

Hyundai is a brand that is ready to move into electric mobility. Its proposals are being well received by drivers around the world and are available to anyone who wants a reliable electric car with features that make them a good option for sustainable mobility. However, these are cars with a high price, as they belong to the upper range. For this reason, the brand does not want to miss the chance to offer a more affordable electric car.
The model in question will be called Ioniq 2, and development of the car has already begun. It will be positioned, of course, below the Ioniq 5 and is intended to occupy its place in the urban segment. That is, small cars with a low but sufficient range to cover daily journeys.

It will be built on the IMA platform, a new architecture that will serve as the basis for up to 13 models from the brand over the coming years. This platform is somewhat more efficient than the e-GMP platform currently in use, but it is easier to produce and more economical. This will allow the price of the Ioniq 2 to be considerably lower than that of the Ioniq 5.
As this model is still being designed, it is not yet known what technical specifications it will have. A range of around 400 kilometres has been mentioned, although it is not known what type of battery it will use. What is certain is that the powertrain will be fairly basic and will be based on new-generation permanent magnet motors.
It is not known yet what it will look like either, although as a small urban car it is expected to bear a strong resemblance to other models of this type. Since it is intended for the European market, where this type of electric vehicle is increasingly in demand, it will not be very different from the Renault 5 and other similar models.
The price being discussed is around 20,000 euros, so these will be electric cars much more affordable than others, whose prices exceed 30,000 euros. There is still a long time before this model arrives, so over time we will begin to receive all the information about it and find out what this car will offer.
