If you want an Alfa Romeo 4C Coupé, you had better hurry: its production will end in 2019.

Alfa Romeo has decided to end production of the 4C Coupé in the United States in 2019, while its Spider variant will remain in production with no end date set.

The future of a brand is often uncertain, since the changes that will be made can shift from one moment to the next. Alfa Romeo made its intentions clear regarding the near future a few weeks ago, as it announced that some of its most iconic models will return and, at the same time, more SUVs will join its lineup. However, the Italian firm left us disheartened by making it clear that the small 4C would have no successor, and this news has been confirmed even further now that we know the life of the coupé sports car is coming to an end.

In 2013, Alfa Romeo bet on a different and appealing type of vehicle, one that combined the performance of a sports car with an old-school philosophy. The result was the 4C, a small car that offered an extraordinary power-to-weight ratio and allowed it to stand up to more powerful models. However, the Italian firm has decided to end this chapter to make room for future models.

For now, we know that production of the coupé version of the 4C will end in 2019 in the United States, but this rule will sooner or later extend to the rest of the world. Meanwhile, Alfa Romeo has not given its final verdict on the Spider version, which will remain in production until further notice. This presents a last opportunity for those considering buying a new 4C, since for the moment the firm has no intention of renewing its sports car.

Let us remember that the Alfa Romeo 4C arrived as one of the sports cars of the moment because, at a truly reasonable price, it is capable of delivering genuine driving thrills. However, the Italian firm has decided to make room for new models, including the new 8C that will arrive with a hybrid powertrain. This also helps us keep hope alive, since in the not-too-distant future Alfa Romeo could decide to revive the iconic 4C.

With its 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine, the small Italian sports car is capable of producing 240 CV of power and 350 Nm of torque. These figures are responsible for moving the mere 895 kilos it claims on the scales, a weight so low that it allows it to reach 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 251 km/h.

Without a doubt, Alfa Romeo has managed to create one of the sports cars of the moment and, although its life is coming to an end, the 4C will always hold a special place in our hearts. Fortunately for fans of the model, the Spider variant will remain in production to represent the model, but sooner or later its production will also end.
