In December, registrations in Spain are expected to fall by almost 27%
Sales in Spain would fall by almost 27% in December, despite the continued validity of the PIVE Plan and a year-end period that is more conducive to car purchases. The year is estimated to close with 698 units, below official forecasts.

2012 has not ended in the best way for the Spanish automotive sector. According to data from the consultancy MSI for the Federation of Automobile Dealer Associations (Faconauto), registrations in December will fall by 26.8% compared with the same month of the previous year. Approximately 48,689 vehicles will be sold, according to the forecast by MSI.
698,315 units will be sold in 2012, 13.7% fewer than last year. Neither the PIVE Plan nor the better end-of-year outlook, days when sales have traditionally been most prolific and when brands want to push through pending registrations to close the year on a better note, have prevented the widespread decline that has been seen almost all year.
In the private customer channel, the drop in sales in December will be 25%, according to these same experts. With this decline, and pending an examination of the effect that self-registrations will have on total accumulated sales for the year, it will be very difficult for the market to reach the desired 700,000 units the sector wanted to close the year with, as it is most likely that they will fall short.
The figures from the PIVE Plan may help close the year with good numbers only in February. To date, there are still many PIVE applications suffering from a slow and cumbersome process through the IDAE (Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving), while many brands announce that they do not have a sufficient number of models to supply the PIVE.

“Lancia may have been damaged by newspapers mis-reporting
Sergio Marchionne´s statements last month; changing from
less separate development to Lancia was shut down may
become a self-fulfilling error…”
