Inkas armors the Cadillac Escalade for its American customers

The armored vehicle specialist Inkas has worked on a Cadillac Escalade to turn it into a bulletproof vehicle for its customers.

Americans are very fond of big cars. Very big ones. This taste also exists in other North American countries and even in Latin America. From this love of large cars come models such as the Cadillac Escalade, a vehicle aimed at family users who want to travel comfortably, with space and off-road capabilities. But for those who want more protection, Inkas offers two levels of armoring.

Inkas is a company specialized in this type of conversion and did not want to leave out one of Cadillac’s most striking vehicles. To do so, it has worked on the vehicle and created two versions, designed for different levels of protection.

Two levels of armoring

The first level is designed to offer good protection against ballistic projectiles, with a treatment capable of stopping the impact of large-calibre bullets. It achieves CEN 1063 BR 6 protection by reinforcing the bodywork and adding protection for the battery and the electronic control module, two very delicate components that need to be well protected against this kind of attack.

The windows have been replaced with multilayer glass, which is capable of withstanding bullet impacts. The door hinges have also been replaced, as has the suspension. It also has run-flat tyres, which add extra protection and will allow the vehicle to escape even if the tyres become targets for shooters.

The next level of armoring offers the same protection against rifle fire and the explosion of two grenades, but adds more elements to the vehicle. For example, it has better tyres with higher performance and a more efficient braking system to handle the vehicle’s greater weight.

It also adds emergency lights and an intercom so that occupants can be heard from outside. We do not know the final price of this armoring package, but we can imagine that it will not be cheap. Still, those who choose this type of modification are not usually short of money, so this should not be a problem for them.

The Cadillac Renegade uses a 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine that delivers 420 CV, and a 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine. The most logical choice for these modifications is the former, which is surely what those who want to travel safely in this model will choose.
