Ioniq 6: we now know its price in Spain, and it puts Tesla on edge

It had already been announced that the Ioniq 6 would be considerably cheaper than its rivals, at least in its entry-level version, though with some limitations.

Just a few weeks ago we reported that the Hyundai Ioniq 6 was about to arrive in Spain and we anticipated what could be the price of the entry-level version. With the start of February, we have been able to confirm the price of this version and also learn the price of the remaining versions that will go on sale in our country.

The Korean manufacturer offers three trim levels, which will make it one of the electric cars most favoured by users. It is a saloon that is positioned as a rival to the Tesla Model 3, the best-selling electric car, but at a price well below that of the American saloon.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is based on the same E-GMP platform used by the Ioniq 5. It measures 4.86 metres in length, a more than welcome size, and allows its occupants to travel in comfort. As we have said, it will offer buyers three trim levels, with different battery capacities and engine power.

The entry-level version is called Light and comes with a 53 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Its motor, located on the rear axle, delivers 111 kW, equivalent to 151 CV. The range of this variant is 429 kilometres. Its price is 49,620 euros, but with the Plan Moves III incentives it can drop to 40,210 euros.

The intermediate version is named Star and features a 77 kWh battery, and its electric motor delivers the equivalent of 225 CV. With this more powerful battery, it reaches a range of 614 kilometres under the WLTP cycle. The price is set at 58,010 euros, although with the brand’s discounts it stands at 55,600 euros. This version is not eligible for Pla Moves aid, so the discounts are smaller.

Finally, the Energy version offers all-wheel drive with two motors, as it adds a motor on the front axle. The power delivered by the two motors is 325 CV. The battery pack is the same as in the Star version, at 77 kWh. The range is slightly lower, reaching 519 kilometres. Its price is 66,360 euros, although once the brand’s discounts are applied it drops to 63,950 euros.

In all three versions, top speed is limited to 185 km/h, and acceleration in the most powerful model is rated at 5.1 seconds. The battery can be charged to 80% in just 3 minutes using a 50 kW charging point.
