Jaguar would add a 5-litre V8 to the F-Type

Jaguar is reportedly preparing a V8 version of the F-Type two-seater, complementing the recently unveiled 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre V6 engines.

Jaguar continues with its policy of renewing the engines of some of its models and is reaping the rewards of a sort of technological renaissance since it gave up the parentage of Ford to have Tata Motors as its mentor. Alongside the new 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre engines announced in Beijing, it is said that a 5-litre V8 is set to be added to the F-Type.

Although no details about the new powerplant have been released, this time the engine would not be a new development like the previous two, but rather the big cat brand will be making use of the engine from the XKR-S, with an attractive record of 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque.

Let us recall that although in recent days we have seen five-litre engines capable of exceeding 600 hp, the five litres of the XKR-S engine are more than enough to propel this small two-seater, which will be a tough nut to crack for other sports convertibles on the market.

This is where personal taste comes into play, but amid so much anaemic and downsized engineering you cannot deny that the F-Type V8 will surely deliver a driving experience well worth it and that will more than justify every euro it costs.
