This modified tractor can reach almost 250 km/h, demonstrating that the structure of this model can withstand the modifications required to do so

Speed tests are a very common occurrence in the automotive industry. Supercars that shatter speed records, production cars that push the limits to showcase their power and, although it may not seem so, tractors also go through these speed tests. This is the case of the JCB Fastrac Two, a tractor built by JCB, the company specialised in this type of vehicle.

This tractor is based on the JCB Fastrac, which is the production version, but it has certainly been significantly improved to achieve the spectacular figures this variant delivers. Most importantly, and the reason this powerful version was built, is to demonstrate that the structure of this tractor model is capable of meeting any challenge.

The engine of the JCB Fastrac Two is a JCB six-cylinder 7.2-litre turbodiesel block, although it has been considerably modified to deliver 1,016 CV of power and a maximum torque of 2,500 Nm. The engine has been fitted with an improved turbocharger that produces 5.0 bar of boost, an electrically driven supercharger to keep the turbo spinning at low speeds, water injection and air cooling via ice tanks. The company’s engineers have also worked on improving the exhaust and enhancing flow.

A six-speed ZF gearbox in an H pattern helps to carry the speed achieved. In addition, several modifications have been made to the bodywork thanks to the Williams Advanced Engineering aerodynamic kit. And with all of this, we arrive at the moment when this JCB Fastrac Two breaks the Guinness World Record for tractor speed and surpasses the 166.7 km/h achieved by the JCB Fastrac One.

The JCB Fastrac Two achieves a top speed of 217.57 km/h, although in addition to this record it registered peak speeds of up to 247.47 km/h, a figure that falls outside the Guinness records. This is not a tractor you would buy for farm work, but it certainly shows that a tractor can receive all these modifications and face every challenge that comes its way.
