Keep an eye on the latest from Hyundai: a robot to control safety in factories!
This is the autonomous robot from Hyundai that uses artificial intelligence to remotely monitor safety in factories.

It doesn’t have a proper name yet; it is known as FSSR, the acronym for Factory Safety Service Robot. Its translation says it all: it is a Factory Safety Service Robot.
It is based on a project by the company Boston Dynamics, which develops robotic solutions to improve people’s quality of life, support the new smart factories and advance mobility solutions for the future. The Hyundai Group acquired a majority stake in this company earlier this year.

The robot has already entered a testing phase in a pilot project that has been launched at one of the Group’s factories, specifically at the Kia plant in South Korea. It is a quadruped with autonomous navigation, artificial intelligence and remote operation technologies, designed for use in industrial tasks.
An autonomous robot with artificial intelligence
The robot’s “eyes” are a thermal camera and a 3D lidar sensor that allow it to detect people and monitor, for example, high temperature peaks or whether a door is open or closed. Its design makes it possible to move through narrow spaces, and it can even identify blind spots that would be difficult for the human eye to monitor.
Thanks to artificial intelligence, the robot, which in addition to moving autonomously around the factory facilities can also be controlled remotely via a web page, can detect potential hazards and issue warning signals. The best part is that you can see it in action in this video. Don’t miss it, because it is a real spectacle.

In the words of Dong Jin Hyun, head of robotics at Hyundai Motor Group, “this robot will help detect risks and ensure the safety of people in factories”, although at the Korean group they are already rubbing their hands together thinking about future applications and developments.
