KIA e-Niro 2022: new details of the highly anticipated electric SUV

The Korean brand has just published new images and data about the new generation of its successful electrified SUV, the all-new KIA e-Niro 2022

Following its presentation at the Seoul Motor Show last November and the subsequent publication of the power and range figures of its 100% electric version, the new KIA e-Niro is now almost fully unveiled with new exterior images and very extensive, technology-rich equipment.

With a renewed exterior design that bears little resemblance to its predecessor and an interior packed with technology and new features, the new KIA Niro has the big mission of becoming a best-seller alongside its bigger sibling, the KIA Sportage (road test), two models that account for a large share of the Korean brand’s sales and that return ready to give it their all.

Good interior space

Without straying further from the subject, the new KIA e-Niro 2022 is built on the third generation of the K platform, with dimensions of 4,420 mm in length, 1,825 mm in width and 1,570 mm in height, and boasts a boot capacity of 495 litres, rising to 1,392 litres if the rear seats are folded down.

As you may have seen in the latest images of the new Niro, digitalisation plays a leading role in its interior, with a large panoramic screen of 10.25-inch oriented towards the driver, a fully digital instrument cluster, a modern 10-inch Head-Up Display and a clean centre console with a rotary gear selector.

As for its driver assistance systems, as you can imagine, the new e-Niro, in both its hybrid and fully electric versions, will feature a long list of ADAS systems, among which we highlight adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot detection, high-beam assist and even intelligent parking assist with rear-view camera.

The mechanics of the new e-Niro

In terms of the mechanical side of the new e-Niro, KIA has fitted a 64.8 kWh battery that powers its 150 kW (204 CV) electric motor and 255 Nm of peak torque, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds, reach a top speed of 167 km/h and travel up to 463 kilometres on the WLTP cycle.

Until we learn more details such as its price or its arrival in Europe, we can only wait for the Korean brand to share more information.
