Kia presents its first electric car, the Ray EV

Kia launches its first fully electric model which will initially be limited to 2,500 units and will mainly be destined to meet part of the government fleet. It is the first electric model the Korean brand has brought to market and, therefore, one of its bets for urban mobility.
The Kia Ray EV weighs about 187 kg more than its 1.0-litre petrol variant because of its lithium batteries. The total power of the powertrain is about 50 kW and a torque of 157 Nm. With the batteries fully charged, this Korean electric car can travel up to about 139 km.

Another fact we already know is that its top speed is limited to 130 km/h, which is more than enough considering its environment is mainly urban. It takes about 6 hours to fully charge the batteries although it offers a fast charging mode of 25 minutes.
As for equipment, it includes six airbags and electronic stability control (ESP). It also has the VESS system (Virtual Engine Sound System), which means that when the driver travels below 20 km/h a sound is activated that imitates the noise of a conventional engine to alert pedestrians.
