Kia Sorento: first official images of the Korean model arrive

If a few weeks ago we had the chance to see the concept images of the new Kia Sorento 2021, which will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show and will have a new look. But those sketches left us wanting more, and we are eager to see more before the Swiss event opens. So Kia has published several photos showing the final look of the model, both its exterior and its interior.

Changes to the bodywork

There are substantial changes to the external styling of the car, which aim to offer a different and undeniably recognisable identity. The exterior is marked by the brand’s signature Tiger Nose grille, a design that has become common across all the brand’s cars, but this is not the only point to note.

The headlights on either side of the grille also feature a very distinctive light signature, with daytime running lights using LED technology that give it a highly recognisable look. The brand has also aimed to offer more interior space, so it has increased the wheelbase to provide that extra room.

The front and rear overhangs have been reduced, giving the image more presence and making it look more compact and contained. As for the sides, the rear windows and sleek lines create an attractive and bold profile, completed by silver decorative elements on the C-pillar. At the rear, the lights stand out, divided into sections, along with a spoiler extending from the roof and the model name, Sorento.

Redesigned interior

Inside, it has also received a new design that brings comfort and technology to the service of the driver and passengers. A 12.3-inch multimedia screen displays the speed indicators and other instrumentation. Another screen, this time 10.12 inches, located in the centre, handles the information and entertainment system, and below it are the climate control controls.

A ambient lighting system and two-tone upholstery are other features visible in these photos that reveal the new Kia Sorento. What is being kept for the presentation is the model’s engine line-up. A hybrid version is expected, similar to the one used in the Kia Optima Hybrid. This would mean it could feature a 2.0-litre engine combined with an electric assist powertrain.
