While the MPV segment seems to have been swept up and inexorably drawn into a trend heading toward the near extinction of these vehicles because of the SUV craze, multipurpose vans not only maintain their commitment to practicality and comfort of use, but reference models such as the one at hand are facing a new generation, improving on what came before and offering a justifiable cost as the price of the new Caddy, which we can now report on since it has been officially announced.

Presented at the beginning of this year, just before what has turned out to be a global health and economic crisis, the commercial van variant introduced the fifth generation of this vehicle, which would also include a variant aimed at lovers of outdoor activities and camping in its livelier and more rugged version, the Volkswagen Caddy California.

The specifications of the new Volkswagen Caddy

Now, except for the last one, the price of the new Volkswagen Caddy is announced taking into account that its architecture is already offered in a standard body 4.5 metres long and that, although not yet confirmed, an extended-length version will appear to replace the previous Volkswagen Caddy Maxi.

Likewise, for those interested in buying this van intended for carrying passengers and their belongings or everyday tools in a boot that offers 1,213 litres of capacity in the Volkswagen Caddy, the engine range opens with diesel engines.

With outputs ranging from 102 CV or 122 CV from the same 2.0 TDI block fuelled by diesel and fitted with SCR catalysts with AdBlue injection, a more modest 75 CV variant will follow later, and TSI petrol engines and, in parallel, natural gas engines will also arrive for those who opt for TGI engines and want to enjoy this van with the DGT ECO environmental label.

Range and price of the Volkswagen Caddy

Once the preferred architecture and engine are chosen, the van is almost fully configured. This vehicle will be sold with four trim levels: Kombi, Origin, Outdoor and Life, bearing in mind that the California conversion could be considered another option for those looking for a tool for everyday use in the city and a companion for weekend getaways to the countryside or leisure days.

Depending on these trim levels, the benefits included in the equipment differ, but they all share the new infotainment system controlled via the screen, ranging from 6.5 to 10 inches, and the new-generation driver assistance systems, notably Side Assist with rear cross-traffic alert and Trailer Assist for those who need to tow a trailer.
