Komma, the multipurpose vehicle for moving freely around the city

The need to get around the city has led several companies to strive to propose practical and efficient solutions for doing so.

Komma

Getting around a big city is quite complicated, and users who drive vehicles want to escape traffic jams and be able to move with greater freedom. So there are brands working to offer electric mobility solutions at all times. And the solution coming from Komma, a Swiss start-up, is this vehicle, which is marketed as something between a car and a motorcycle, and is electric.

To design this vehicle, they worked with the automotive design studio Grandstudio. The idea is to offer the comfort of a car and the freedom of a motorcycle in urban traffic. Production is scheduled for the year 2025, but throughout 2024 several units will be tested in order to refine details and offer a quality vehicle to its users.

The company does not want to stop at electric mobility; it also wants to reduce the vehicle’s carbon footprint during production. To do this, work is being done on the models already built, which will undergo tests to progressively reduce the number of parts and thus reduce the carbon footprint even further.

Among the details visible in the design of the vehicles presented is the double wheel on each axle. This helps provide stability but does not eliminate the feeling of riding a motorcycle.

Battery and motor

As for the motorization and the battery, this proposal is going to offer good performance. The battery has a capacity of 7.5 kWh, although a dual battery option will also be available, which will increase capacity up to 15 kWh. Range is estimated at up to 200 kilometres.

This battery can be charged using a conventional charger, although it can also be charged with a fast charger. That said, it is advisable not to use this system on a regular basis. As for the motor, it has not yet been announced, so it remains a mystery until in a few months’ time, when the details are finalised.

Comfort on board

This vehicle has a 1+1 configuration, meaning the passenger and the driver sit facing each other. It features ABS, seat belts and even airbags. The suspension and steering system allow it to lean, so you can experience what it feels like to ride a motorcycle.
