LA 2010: GMC Granite CPU Concept

With the Granite crossover on its back, GMC wanted to present at Los Angeles a new interpretation of the model, this time turned into a compact pick-up. The GMC Granite CPU Concept (CPU for Compact Pick Up) is a pick-up that could follow a similar idea to similar vehicles (allowing for the differences, of course) that the GM group sells in South America, which leads us to think that GM is not unaware that the USA still lacks a small cargo vehicle.
But let’s set assumptions aside. The CPU Concept offers a small cargo area, with an access door (split in two) that opens sideways rather than downwards, along with some features aimed at improving its loading and access capabilities.
It’s a pity that the model is not even close to being considered for production, and will instead remain a design exercise. Apparently it would have more practical utility than the original Granite, designed for users in North America who need a cargo vehicle that is not of imposing size, like the GMC pick-ups we have seen so far.
