Lamborghini has yet to decide its strategy for selling SUVs (Urus)

Lamborghini still needs to study the SUV market more thoroughly before deciding whether to produce the Urus and its derivative models, according to Stephan Winkelmann.

For months now, Lamborghini has been preparing the Urus, the first all-terrain vehicle from the bull brand to hit the road since the days of the unwieldy LM002. However, the company has yet to decide which path it will take with the Urus and future similar models.

The brand’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, has commented that over the coming months a more complete picture will emerge regarding the decision to fully venture into the SUV world and develop more models equivalent to the Urus.

Lamborghini had expected a fairly ambitious production schedule for the Urus, since it plans to build more SUVs per year than super sports cars, the specialty of the house of Sant’Agata Bolognese since its founding. To give you an idea, while it currently produces around 2,000 units annually, with the Urus and its derivatives it was expected that around 3,000 units could be produced.

Therefore, we cannot yet consider the decision to manufacture the Urus to be one hundred percent certain, which will be decided next year, according to Winkelmann.
