In an announcement made today, the brand Lancia has unveiled the fourth image of one of its electrified models, which will reach the market in 2024 with a fully electric version, the Lancia Ypsilon, a car that promises to blend the brand’s heritage with an avant-garde approach. The official presentation is scheduled for February of next year in the vibrant city of Milan.

Its latest reveal showed an innovative infotainment platform, S.A.L.A. (Sound Air Light Augmentation), an advanced technological breakthrough that works through a fully customisable widget-based system, and comes with two standard HD screens. This reveal, together with the reveal of its front end and the collaboration with Cassina, will make this car one of the most sought-after from the brand.

LED rear lights

The image reveals the captivating rear of the vehicle, where the iconic round LED rear lights take centre stage. These lights, clearly inspired by the legendary Lancia Stratos, embody the most radical spirit of the brand, now reinterpreted with a modern and elegant touch. Luca Napolitano, CEO of Lancia, commented: “Today, with the fourth image, we present the rear of the new Lancia Ypsilon, which reflects the new, pure and radical design language.”

The round LED rear lights, evoking the Lancia Stratos’s rally victories, feature a new design element: the letter Y, an extreme symbolic synthesis placed horizontally within the luminous circles. This detail not only adds a touch of modernity but also pays homage to the brand’s rich history.

Planned engines

The new model will be available with two engine options, one petrol and one electric. In the first case, it will use a 1.2 PureTech petrol engine with 48-volt mild hybridisation. As for the electric version, it will deliver 156 CV and a maximum torque of 260 Nm, sent to the front axle.

In this case, the 57 kWh battery will allow the car to reach 400 kilometres of range on the WLTP cycle. That is all we know for now. The official presentation will take place over the coming months, and the car will reach the market a few months later, in 2024.

A new emblem

Following the advanced vision of Lancia Pu+Ra HPE, the unique combination of radicalism and purity stands out in the lights, where the new Lancia letters are elegantly framed. The original typography, inspired by the Italian fashion industry, adds a touch of sophistication. The Ypsilon letters, with “handwritten” characters, draw their inspiration from historic icons such as Fulvia, Flavia and Flaminia, models that embody the essence of elegance in design.

The official launch of the model is scheduled for February 2024, through the exclusive “NEW LANCIA YPSILON CASSINA LIMITED EDITION“. This model, which marks the first concrete step in the brand’s renaissance journey, features a 100% electric powertrain. Limited to 1,906 numbered and certified units, it represents Lancia’s ambitious vision in terms of electrification, in line with Stellantis’s strategic plan “Dare Forward“. In addition, the comprehensive charging strategy is backed by Free2move Charge, forming an integrated 360-degree charging ecosystem for a worry-free driving experience.
