Landwind, the Chinese car manufacturer, has released several images of the production version of the X7. This model is a blatant copy of the Range Rover Evoque, built in the face of Land Rover, which can do nothing to defend itself against this plagiarism, due to the rudimentary laws in China regarding intellectual property.

The X7 will go on sale next month, and Landwind has now published a batch of photographs of the crossover ready for production, which is more than three times cheaper than the Evoque, so there is really no competition between the two models. Imported into China, the price of the premium English SUV is almost double its price here.

As for its design, and as can be seen in the photographs, it is a well-equipped crossover with a 10.2-inch touchscreen for the information and entertainment system, heated mirrors, electric parking brake, rear camera, cruise control, GPS, Bluetooth climate control system, and keyless entry and ignition.

The top specification version adds a huge sunroof, leather upholstery and electrically adjustable heated seats, an 8-speaker sound system, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a lane change warning system.

The engine of this Landwind X7 is a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit that develops 190 CV and 250 Nm, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic gearbox, with a choice of 4×2 or 4×4 drive.

What we have to admit is that it is one of the best-executed scams to come out of China, since some so-called “designers” are paid simply to show up at their office and apply the copy-and-paste technique.
