Lincoln walks a tightrope in the US

In the US, while Ford has decided to shut down its Mercury brand towards the end of this year, the situation is not much better at Lincoln, despite the promises from its bosses at Ford. The dealerships that sold Lincoln and Mercury are worried about their future.

It is true that it will be a good time for anyone who wants to buy a Mercury and finds the deals that will surely come so that Ford can get rid of its existing car inventory. But Lincoln dealers are more than concerned about their future, once Mercury has gone to the great garage in the sky.

Ford has assured that it is preparing improvements for Lincoln cars over the next four years. What it has not assured is whether the brand can survive on its own with a distribution network much smaller than Ford’s or Mercury’s own, which sold a little more than Lincoln.

For now, the most immediate model the brand announces as part of the renewal is a hybrid version of the not-so-handsome MKZ saloon.
