Lordstown begins production of the Endurance at the Foxconn plant

The company, which has been through several financial problems, is finally putting the Endurance into production and will deliver the first 500 pick-ups in 2023.

When we mention Lordstown, you may immediately think of an endless road of financial problems and eccentric twists. And it is true that not long ago the company, which had promised to manufacture electric vehicles for the American market, was considered lost and withdrew its projects from the market. But in the end, it secured the capital needed to continue and has now made headlines by announcing that the first units of the Lordstown Endurance are leaving the plant.

The Foxconn factory, located in Ohio, has begun delivering the brand’s first two units and expects to start delivering a first batch of 500 units within seven or eight months. The first fifty vehicles will be delivered during this third quarter of the year.

Five hundred vehicles for 2023

During the first half of 2023 the company will deliver the rest of this first batch, that is, 450 units. Production is slowed by the problems the company has been carrying, and it will not be able to bring these dates forward, although they assure that the deadlines will be met. Although the release of these three vehicles has required a considerable investment of time, production is expected to increase in October and November so that the agreed deadlines can be met.

In addition to these first units destined for buyers, Lordstown has prepared several vehicles intended for software calibration, performance testing and certification with US authorities.

The Lordstown Endurance promises a range of 322 kilometres on the EPA cycle, thanks to a 109 kWh battery. The four motors fitted to this off-road pick-up deliver a output of 405 kW, equivalent to 558 CV. This represents a reduction from what they originally promised to offer. At that time a power output of 447 kW, equivalent to 600 CV, was expected.
