Lucid Air Sapphire, the electric saloon that will outperform supercars

It was during Monterey Car Week, in California, that Lucid unveiled a version of its electric saloon that aims to take on models such as the Tesla Model S Plaid. In other words, an electric-drive saloon that will offer outstanding power and a level of luxury not usually found in this type of model.

To achieve this, the Lucid Air Sapphire will feature three electric motors. Two of them will be located on the rear axle, while the third will be placed on the front axle. Together, they will be capable of delivering an output equivalent to 1,200 CV, which places it above many supercars, even those with combustion engines.

To control all that power, the model includes carbon-ceramic brakes, bodywork improvements to enhance aerodynamic response and a sportier suspension. All of this turns this version of the Lucid Air into a beast on the road, ready to take on any supercar.

Among its features is the ability to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just over two seconds and reach a top speed of 320 km/h. Looking at the time it takes to cover the quarter mile, we find a figure of less than nine seconds.

More power than other versions

Improvements in engine technology have allowed the power of the Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance to be surpassed. That version offered 1,111 CV, so this becomes the most powerful variant the model offers.

The presence of two electric motors at the rear allows torque to be delivered in a more controlled way. This even lets the car take the trickiest bends more smoothly and safely. According to the brand, this system is better than a steerable rear axle, as it is quieter, safer and more efficient.

This powerful variant will have a limited production run and its price in the United States is set at 250,000 dollars. Reservations open from 23 August and it is expected to be well received among those who want a luxury electric saloon with outstanding power.
