Lucid Motors is introducing a new driver-assistance system in its vehicles that allows drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel
Continuous updates and Lucid Motors’ focus on delivering high-quality software ensure that owners of the brand’s vehicles enjoy an increasingly advanced and safer driving experience.
Lucid Motors, the Californian startup specializing in luxury electric vehicles, has just announced new driver-assistance features for its Air and Gravity models. These include a hands-free driving system and an automatic lane-change assistant that requires no manual input, both designed to enhance the driving experience in the brand’s vehicles.
Owners of models equipped with the advanced driver-assistance package, DreamDrive Pro, will receive these features via a wireless software update (OTA). For the Lucid Air, the update is scheduled for July 30, while Gravity owners will have to wait until the end of the year. According to the company, both systems will work on motorways that meet a series of requirements. In the case of hands-free lane changing, the vehicle will initiate the manoeuvre automatically once the driver activates the turn signal.

Lucid Motors says these improvements reflect the company’s commitment to developing software-defined vehicles. “With our own software, a suite of 32 sensors and regular OTA updates, we are ready to offer even more features to our customers in the future.” This approach allows Lucid Motors to implement continuous advances in its vehicles, maximizing their technological potential.
What is needed to enjoy these new features?
All Lucid electric vehicles come standard with the DreamDrive system, which offers features such as automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, lane departure protection and traffic sign recognition. However, the new hands-free driving and automatic lane-change features will be available exclusively on models with the optional DreamDrive Pro package.

This package carries an additional cost of $2,500 for the Lucid Air in the United States, while on the Gravity SUV the DreamDrive 2 Pro system costs $6,750. This enhanced version incorporates advanced technologies such as LiDAR, radar, perimeter-view cameras and ultrasonic sensors, which boost the driver-assistance capabilities.
