Lucid Motors Positions Its Luxury Electric Sedan as a Police Patrol Vehicle
The unrivaled combination of range, interior space, performance and cargo capacity makes the Lucid Air the almost perfect electric vehicle for incorporation into police fleets.
Lucid Motors, the American manufacturer of luxury electric vehicles, has caught the attention of the American media in recent days after taking part in a vehicle test with the California Highway Patrol. The Lucid Air shown in the images attached to this post has not only been adapted to meet the standards required of a police vehicle, but has also left everyone astonished with its aggressive appearance.
As can be seen in the images, Lucid has equipped this unit with the typical modifications of any police patrol vehicle in that country, such as strobe lights, bull bars and an integrated public address system. In short, it lacks nothing.

For now, it remains to be seen whether this prototype will ever become part of the fleet of any police force in the United States, but there is no doubt that we would all like it to. Lucid Motors points to the advantages such a vehicle would offer law enforcement agencies, highlighting its long range -in fact the Lucid Air is one of the electric models capable of covering the greatest distance on a single charge in the entire market-, not to mention its generous interior space and its cargo capacity in the boot for transporting firearms or any other equipment typical of police work.
One drawback
It is important to point out, however, one drawback that could be a significant obstacle to the Lucid Air ever becoming a police patrol vehicle. And that is none other than its purchase cost. The base price of the Lucid Air in its most affordable Pure version is around $71,400, while if we move up one step in the range the price is $80,400 for the Touring version.
Above these two versions, the $112,400 that the Grand Touring version costs is already a totally prohibitive price, which hardly any police force could justify. The top-of-the-range Sapphire version, on the other hand, needs no further mention, with a price of $250,500.

Only time will tell whether this proposal from Lucid Motors ends up convincing any police force in the United States, or even in Canada. In the meantime, we can enjoy the images published by the company of this impressive luxury electric sedan manufactured in Casa Grande (Arizona) and turned into one of the most spectacular patrol vehicles we have ever seen.
