Lumma Design dares to take on the Audi Q8 and leaves it almost unrecognisable

The Audi Q8 goes through the studios of Lumma Design to offer us an exterior and interior styling kit that is quite extravagant and does not focus on the mechanics

Audi has traditionally always tried to express its premium brand character in each and every model it has launched onto the market, which is why, when the new Audi Q8 was announced, it became one of the most anticipated models, as it would become the high-end SUV of the four rings and the one in which the A8 would be reflected. These models aim to maximise other kinds of qualities, among which sporty traits do not stand out excessively, although they are also present, especially in its more radical versions.

To seek an even greater sporty edge, many drivers turn to specialist tuners for this kind of work, and to equip the Audi Q8 we find options such as the proposal by ABT Design last winter. Its close collaboration with the VAG Group has brought us a Q8 as close as possible to the SQ8 and RSQ8 versions that will arrive soon, showing a very sporty character without clashing with the design produced by Audi.

But if ABT’s proposal doesn’t seem sporty enough or doesn’t stand out enough for you, and what you want is a Audi Q8 that looks like it came straight out of a The Fast and the Furious film, then the styling package just presented by Luma Design is for you. As the brand itself says, we will give the Audi Q8 a look that is not only sporty but also extravagant, with a design kit that will be available from next summer.

Its exterior styling is modified thanks, first of all, to the use of a new front bumper in which carbon fibre is the star, used as a frame surrounding all the air intakes and the Audi Singleframe grille, as well as to shape the fins housed on the sides. The bonnet is also modified with a carbon fibre accessory, with openings that help cool the engine.

Moving along the side, the wheel arches have also been modified to be wider, and can be painted in the body colour or, again, in carbon fibre, which also applies to the modified skirts. At the rear, a new bumper has been fitted to house the rear diffuser, as well as new twin exhaust outlets, and we mustn’t forget the rear spoiler. To finish the exterior, Lumma Design offers customers wheels that can be 22, 23 and 24 inches, as well as the option of fitting spacers that widen its image even further.

Lumma Design has also made changes to the interior, although these are not as exaggerated as the exterior but are just as noticeable. These changes focus on new leather upholstery combining red and black, applied to the front and rear seats, the headrests of each seat, the front and rear armrests and also the door panels.

Mechanically, Lumma Design has not wanted to touch the Audi Q8, so if we want to increase power when equipping the Q8 50 TDI’s 3.0 V6 engine, we will have to turn precisely to ABT, who can reprogram the ECU to go from the standard 286 CV and 600 Nm to the 330 CV and 650 Nm they achieve.
