Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid Cars SUV
Madrid's police, the most environmentally committed: the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV becomes their new mount
The Madrid police force has a new mount, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, the plug-in hybrid version of the Japanese SUV that will help ensure the law is enforced

It is common knowledge that pollution is a problem that is affecting our planet in a number of ways and, for better or worse, the car industry has had a lot to do with it. To remedy this, many brands are now starting to bet heavily on alternatives to traditional combustion engines, such as electric, hybrid or plug-in hybrid mechanisms, also known as PHEVs. These options are being widely applied to public transport, but now the Madrid police have succumbed to the charms of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, one of the leading options in the plug-in hybrid SUV segment.
Thanks to the new addition to the police force, not only will emissions from vehicles running exclusively on combustion be considerably reduced, but it will also be possible to extend the patrol perimeter. With this in mind, Madrid’s security forces will be able to venture into the heart of the Spanish capital, thus ensuring that calm is maintained in every corner.
So far, 23 units have been delivered to the Department of the Environment of Madrid City Council, but this number will very likely increase over time. With this in mind, the police force will be able to pursue wrongdoers aboard a vehicle that carries the blue label, a badge that will be accompanied by the four-wheel drive of the Outlander and a total of 54 kilometres of range in 100% electric mode.

In addition to a look in keeping with the Madrid police uniform, law enforcement officers will also enjoy performance that meets their needs. To be more specific, the Japanese SUV is powered by a 2.4-litre petrol engine capable of delivering 135 CV and 211 Nm of torque which, in turn, is complemented by two electric motors of 82 and 95 CV respectively that help bring total output up to 230 CV.
In this way, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will allow the police not only to pursue those who break the law, but also to cover the perimeter driving in 100% electric mode. Being able to enjoy this driving option not only saves more petrol, but also reduces CO2 emissions to zero, a goal the car industry is eager to achieve.

This is how the Madrid police have chosen to commit to greater environmental care without giving up performance and capabilities worthy of a vehicle that will help ensure the law is enforced to the letter. This initiative will soon be reflected in other Spanish municipalities, with the aim that security forces and public services avoid contributing to a form of pollution that concerns us more and more.
