MAN eTGE Combi, the electric passenger van designed for city driving
Shuttle services also need to adapt to the restrictions in city centres, and electric passenger models are emerging for this purpose

Electric vehicles are reaching every market and every segment, and passenger transport also needs to move towards this zero-emission driving mode. Shuttles that usually run from airports to city centres also need to be able to get around traffic restrictions in these low-emission zones.
The MAN eTGE Combi is based on the same MAN eTGE cargo model. It has been designed to run on electricity and is aimed at professionals, not private use. It has been oriented towards serving as a zero-emission shuttle service, which makes this vehicle ideal for moving around urban environments and carrying out this much-demanded service.

Aesthetically, it can be distinguished from the cargo model, which is also electric, because it has bumpers in the same colour as the bodywork and also has rear windows, something the cargo version of this model does not have. The interior of this passenger vehicle can accommodate up to nine seated passengers on fixed seats secured to the floor with rails.
The MAN eTGE Combi measures 5,986 mm in length and is equipped with a rear camera to improve manoeuvrability when reversing, a cruise control system with speed limiter, automatic emergency braking and heating in all rows of seats, so that passengers can travel in comfort.

The electric motor that powers this electric van delivers a power output of 100 kW, equivalent to 136 CV, and a maximum torque of 290 Nm, the same as the other version of the model. The battery that powers this motor is 35.8 kWh and charging takes 5.5 hours using a 7.2 kW AC charger. If a 40 kW fast charger is used, charging from 0 to 80% takes 45 minutes.
All of this offers a range of 114 kilometres, a fairly short figure, but one that would be sufficient for short journeys, which is what this type of zero-emission vehicle is designed for. The MAN eTGE Combi will be presented in a few days at the Bus World 2019 event, held in Belgium.
