Mansory turns the Mercedes-Maybach GLS into a more laid-back and sporty vehicle

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS is perhaps not the ideal base for a tuning project, but Mansory dares to take on everything, and this model could not be left out

Mercedes-Maybach stands for luxury at its highest level, no matter which of its models we talk about, models that include, incidentally, the GLS, an SUV with a distinctive and, above all, elegant design that hints at what we will find inside, where we will find every comfort and technology imaginable, all complemented by a powerful V8 engine.

Perhaps the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is not exactly an SUV on which to carry out a tuning project to bring out a more sporty and rugged vision than the one the brand originally proposes, but at Mansory they do not define themselves by following the usual trend, and in their workshops the star today is the Mercedes-Maybach GLS which, as you can imagine, presents a completely different image.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS created by Mansory sets aside its stately and elegant styling to become equally sporty and aggressive. Its exterior now features a carbon fibre body kit, a material offered in four different collections with ten distinct designs, thus offering greater customisation options to each of the customers interested in this model.

Starting with the front, Mansory proposes keeping the original grille, although those who prefer may give it a darker tone or simply replace it with carbon. Lower down, the bumper is completely modified, with a new design that includes fins, air intakes and a lower splitter made of carbon fibre, in addition to adding daytime LED lights in the side air intakes. Furthermore, for those wanting a more aggressive look, the design of this bumper also allows the installation of a stainless steel protective bar.

From the side we can see how the wheel arches have grown in size, now including vents at the rear for the front wheels and at the front for the rear wheels. The new side skirts are also visible, quite discreet for Mansory, accompanied by V.6 model wheels in glossy black finish, 24 inches in size. At the rear, the bumper is also modified, mainly to include the new diffuser made entirely of carbon fibre, which incorporates the exhaust outlets and, as on the front, allows two stainless steel bars to be optionally installed as protection.

Mansory has not released images of the interior of its Mercedes-Maybach GLS, but has confirmed that modifications are made using materials of exquisite quality, thus maintaining the level of luxury expected from its interior. Leather is the main protagonist, used on most elements, even as inserts, or a 3D pattern used on the seats and door panels, all accompanied by hand-embroidered details and carbon fibre inserts to give it a sportier touch.

Mechanically, as standard, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS uses an impressive 4,000 cc V8 engine that produces 558 CV of power along with 730 Nm of torque, all accompanied by the 48 V EQ Boost technology of Mercedes. Mansory has made modifications to both the control unit and by installing a new turbo and exhaust system, thereby increasing power to an impressive 820 CV and torque to 920 Nm, which allows it to accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and reach a limited top speed of 300 km/h.
