Maple Majestic, the new Canadian company that will launch electric cars

New companies keep appearing that want to position themselves in the electric mobility market. And the latest one we know of is Maple Majestic, of Canadian origin and which wants to become the leading automotive company in the North American country. The name, at least, already makes its origin clear, because maple is the name given to the maple leaf featured on its flag. Majestic refers to the British monarchy, which is also its own.

Its expectations are not low. They not only want to be a renowned brand in their country of origin, but also to become an international benchmark in electric mobility. To do so, they want to compete “head to head” with companies and brands as well known as Tesla or the large international automotive groups.

A saloon as the first proposal

SUVs are the kings of the automotive market, but the brand steps away from this trend from the outset and focuses on a fairly interesting saloon that seeks to recall, precisely, the Tesla Model 3. But in reality, it is a very different design and offers a sportier look, with a waistline that slopes downwards.

There are other hallmarks such as prominent wheel arches, a door design that hides the door handles and round rear lights joined together by a strip of LED lights. It is a Canadian car and in Canada extreme climates are experienced, so the design of the car has taken this into account.

Specifically, the adjustable suspension of this first model will allow the ground clearance to be adjusted by up to 150 millimetres, a height sufficient to deal with obstacles such as snow. The maximum height above the ground that this model can offer will be 290 mm, so it will have considerable capability to move over rough terrain. The wheelbase will be 3,100 mm, so it will offer considerable space in the interior.

The traction system, batteries and inverters will come from external companies, so it is technology already tested and installed in other models. Maple Majestic’s innovation projects will go towards other aspects of the model, although they have not revealed which ones. As a curiosity, the brand announces that they will possibly manufacture a model with a small combustion engine to power the battery, something other brands are ruling out and which is an EV with range extension.

No specifications for this car are known, nor when it will be ready for us to see, but the brand is betting on a successful launch very soon. We will be watching this project and see whether it ends up like so many other similar proposals that have failed to reach the market.
