Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles now have access to the Tesla Supercharger network in North America
Owners of any Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle will nevertheless have to use a CCS1 to NACS adapter in order to charge.
Mercedes-Benz has become the last car manufacturer to gain access to the Tesla Supercharger network in North America. Since this past Thursday, owners of the German manufacturer’s electric vehicles can now charge at the wide network of Tesla charging points spread across the United States and Canada.
Mercedes-Benz announced some time ago that it would be in February when owners of the brand’s electric vehicles could access Superchargers in this market, but it did not set a specific date. It is now Tesla itself that has confirmed, through an update to its website, the good news that this is now possible.

To access the nearly 15,000 Superchargers that make up the Tesla network in North America, drivers of any Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle will need to use an NACS to CCS1 charging adapter. Unlike other manufacturers that are handing out these adapters free of charge to their customers, Mercedes-Benz has preferred to sell it at a reduced price of 185 dollars, considering its retail price usually hovers around 200 dollars.
The charging experience should be practically identical to the one owners of Tesla electric vehicles have been enjoying for some time
The Mercedes-Benz smartphone app has also been updated so that it is possible to charge at any Tesla Supercharger without the need to install any additional app or make any changes to the vehicle settings. The only essential requirement is to have a payment method set up in the Mercedes-Benz account.
Most of Mercedes-Benz’s electric models also already support the Plug & Charge feature at Tesla Superchargers, so all you need to do is connect the cable for charging to start automatically, with the cost then charged to the payment method linked to the vehicle owner’s Mercedes-Benz account. A limited number of the German manufacturer’s models will, however, need a software update for this process to work properly.

Like other manufacturers, Mercedes-Benz also plans to soon begin selling its new electric models in North America with a NACS charging port fitted as standard. This way, no adapter will be needed at Tesla Superchargers, but a NACS to CCS1 adapter will still be needed to charge at other providers’ CCS1 charging points. However, it is expected that over time all charging points in North America will support the NACS standard.
