Mercedes-Benz EQT: now on sale in Spain with a range of 282 km

Mercedes-Benz Vans is taking significant steps to lead electric mobility by offering all of its fleet models electrified, and Mercedes is one of the best in this regard, as it offers alternatives for every sector in which it operates. Now, Mercedes-EQ surprises its customers with the revamped Mercedes-Benz EQT, a compact MPV that combines comfort with the best equipment of the Class T, its internal combustion model, with the advantages of electric propulsion.

The EQT represents an attractive entry point into Mercedes’s electric vehicle world for families and outdoor enthusiasts, as it features a spacious interior and room for three child seats in the rear seat, two of them with the Isofix anchorage system. With its distinctive Black Panel front grille featuring the iconic star in the centre, the EQT is easily recognisable as part of the Mercedes-EQ family.

Despite its reduced exterior dimensions, this compact electric MPV offers a spacious interior. Thanks to its compact battery, housed in the lower part of the body, the EQT offers characteristics similar to those of the Class T. With a length of 4498 mm, a width of 1859 mm and a height of 1819 mm, the EQT is a versatile vehicle for everyday life.

The EQT shares many advantageous features with the Class T, such as a low loading height of just 561 mm, making it easier to load heavy objects. In addition, the sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle, with an opening of 614 mm wide and 1059 mm high, allow easy access to the interior.

State-of-the-art electric equipment

The EQT is equipped with a state-of-the-art electric motor, which delivers a maximum power of 90 kW (122 CV) and a maximum torque of 245 Nm. It features the latest lithium-ion battery technology, with a usable capacity of 45 kWh, located in the lower part of the body, in front of the rear axle, and provides a range of up to 282 km on the WLTP combined cycle. The vehicle can be conveniently charged with alternating current (AC) at 22 kW using the onboard charger, whether at home, at work or at public charging stations.

At DC fast-charging stations, charging time varies depending on the state of charge (SoC) and the temperature of the high-voltage battery. The EQT is equipped with a 75 kW DC charger, enabling quick and convenient charging. With a state of charge from 10 to 80%, charging time is approximately 38 minutes.

The charging port is located in the front grille, beneath the iconic Mercedes star, which is practical and convenient, especially in urban environments with narrow parking spaces. The EQT comes with a CCS charging socket and a CCS charging cable included as standard.

Standard equipment includes:

• Hill start assist: Maintains brake pressure when the driver’s foot moves from the brake pedal to the accelerator when moving uphill, preventing rollback.
• Crosswind assist: Can reduce the effects of gusts of wind by helping drivers with braking action at the front and rear wheel on the side facing the wind.
• Attention assist: Can detect when drivers are becoming increasingly inattentive and drowsy, and issues an audible and visual warning to take a break.
• Active brake assist: Can help avoid rear-end collisions and accidents with crossing vehicles, as well as pedestrians and cyclists.
• Active lane keeping assist: Active from 70 km/h and acts on the steering itself, not on the brakes.
• Blind spot assist: Uses radar to monitor areas beside the vehicle not covered by the exterior mirrors, and issues an audible warning, as well as a visual warning in the form of a light triangle in the exterior mirrors.
• Speed limit assist: Can recognise speed limits with the help of a camera and displays them in the instrument cluster. It can issue visual and audible warnings if the vehicle exceeds the detected speed limit.

To further enhance active safety, Mercedes-Benz Vans offers the driver assistance package for the EQT with two additional safety systems:

• DISTRONIC active distance assist: Automatically maintains the set speed and distance from the vehicle ahead. The current speed can be adopted with just the press of a button. The system uses information from the camera and radar sensors. The desired distance can be set at four different levels. If the traffic ahead stops, the vehicle can brake automatically to a standstill. If traffic starts moving again within three seconds, the EQT starts automatically; otherwise, it can be started by simply pressing a button or touching the accelerator. DISTRONIC is also available as a standalone optional feature.
• Active steering assist: Helps drivers keep the EQT in the middle of the lane, particularly useful for monotonous driving on straight or gently winding roads. The system uses the detected lane markings.

Here we can clearly see how the brand has borrowed the basis of the Renault Kangoo, sharing its engine, battery and charging system, but adding the brand’s distinctive exterior and an interior of remarkable quality. This model goes on sale in Spain at a modest starting price of 48,650 euros.
