Following the farewell of the current generation, Mercedes adds another new limited edition for the G-Class, this time focused on the most basic versions

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class continues its final swan song after 40 years on the market remaining practically unchanged, a swan song that is translating into special editions that make its farewell even more representative. The first of them, very exclusive and expensive, was based on the AMG version of the G-Class, while the ones we now show you focus on the “basic” versions.

This new special edition has been named “Limited Edition”, which applies to the models G 350 d, G 350 d Professional and the G 500. All three versions will stand out for their very complete equipment both on the exterior and interior, with sales already open, although deliveries will not begin until next January. If you want one of these limited and numbered units you should hurry to order it, since only 463 units will be manufactured for the whole world, a number that, incidentally, has been made to coincide with its internal code.

The three versions differ from each other in terms of equipment level and engine, although in this limited edition they will share a couple of elements that serve as a common bond. On the one hand, all of them will carry on the central armrest the embossed badge of Schöckl, the Austrian mountain that has been testing the off-road capabilities of the G-Class since 1979, accompanied by the plate with the unit number and, on the A-pillar, the “Limited Edition” plate. In addition, the G 350 d and G 500 will feature this latter plate illuminated on the door sills.

Starting now with the individual features, we will begin with the G 350 d Limited Edition. Externally it will only be offered in metallic black paint, contrasting with elements such as the brushed aluminium door protection strip, to which we must add the Sport package in combination with the Stainless Steel package, which includes 19-inch AMG wheels in grey; as well as darkened rear windows, electric sunroof and heated windscreen.

Inside, the great protagonist is brown nappa leather, a material also used on other elements in another shade of brown besides black, this latter colour also present in the interior trims. In terms of equipment we find items such as the Load Protection package, Harman Kardon Logic 7 sound system, garage door opener, distance control, blind spot control and the Parking package.

Now continuing with the G 350 d Professional Limited Edition, we are presented with the version most oriented towards off-road use. The paint chosen for this version is called China Blue, in addition to steel on the front bumper, protective grilles for the indicators, the Professional Off-Road package which includes roof protection and mud flaps. The interior uses the classic diamond pattern for the centre of the seats, and standard equipment includes heated front seats, radio navigation with Bluetooth, heated windscreen, Load Protection package and auxiliary heating with remote control.

Finally, the most powerful version, the G 500 Limited Edition. The colour selected for the exterior is Platinum Magno paint, contrasting with other black elements such as the external protective strip or the wheels and front grille, the latter two in Magno Black. It also features the Chrome and Sport packages, to which darkened rear windows are added as standard equipment.

Inside, black nappa leather floods every nook, with white contrast stitching. In this same section, standard equipment includes the Chrome and Exclusive package, the Harman Kardon Logic 7 sound system, television, heated windscreen, Load Protection package, auxiliary heating with remote control, garage door opener, distance control and blind spot control, and the Parking package.

As you can imagine, being limited editions with this level of standard equipment, the price will be steep, and you are mistaken: the G 350 d will cost 122,918.67 euros, the G 350 d Professional will cost 103,940.55 euros, while the G 500 will have a starting price of 140,164.15 euros.
