Mercedes has opened sales of the new Mercedes C-Class Coupé and Cabrio, two models with major updates that are available from 45,800 euros.

Mercedes takes the saying “reinvent or die” to heart, through which they have been able to give their C-Class substantial improvements in every respect. This idea gave rise to the facelift applied to the various versions of the German saloon, where numerous features have been accentuated to give it a more modern and up-to-date design. In this way, Mercedes has been able to avoid renewing the model and continue offering a vehicle that remains at the forefront of automotive innovation.

The Mercedes C-Class is one of the brand’s flagship products, as it was responsible for ushering in a new era within Mercedes with its debut in 1982, a year when the 190 name still graced its rear. 36 years later, the German brand continues to enjoy outstanding success with the C-Class, a model that has been improved in every respect following the warm reception of this latest generation.

The brand has decided to step forward and offer a substantial number of updates on the Coupé and Cabrio versions of its C-Class. These include new features both on the exterior and the interior, without neglecting the mechanics, which are expanded and improved with the introduction of new engines. In this way, the German brand has managed to offer a more complete and up-to-date C-Class, which is being readied for the start of summer.

The main changes can be seen in both the light units and the front and rear bumpers, two elements that help keep the German saloon’s styling in line with today’s market. Depending on the trim chosen, we will enjoy smoother, more polished lines, or a bolder and more aggressive design when the AMG name is applied to the C-Class.

If we venture into the cabin of the Mercedes C-Class Coupé and Cabrio after this facelift, we will find a high level of technology. It is true that the brand’s smaller saloon does not get the twin screens found in the E-Class and S-Class, but it does offer a fully digital instrument cluster along with a larger infotainment system.

However, what is truly interesting lies under the bonnet, where several new engines have been chosen to power the C-Class. On one hand, we have the C200, the most modest version that offers a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine capable of delivering 184 CV of power. If we want to make a leap in every sense, we should opt for the C300, a model whose 2.0-litre engine produces 258 CV of power, a figure that takes us straight into a much sportier world; yet Mercedes has offered even more.

As with practically all of the brand’s models, the AMG name is applied to these to offer a more radical version, and the new C-Class was not going to be an exception. In this case it arrives with the 43 AMG badge, and it is a 3.0-litre V6 engine capable of giving us 390 CV of power. Even so, Mercedes has also considered customers who are not looking for such extreme sensations, and so the C220 d is also offered. This model incorporates a 2.0-litre engine and 194 CV, a figure ideal for those seeking a balance between efficiency and sportiness.

Mercedes not only wanted to take the opportunity to kick off sales of the new Mercedes C-Class Coupé and Cabrio, but also to announce their prices. The C200 will be available from 45,800 euros in Coupé form, a figure that rises to 53,750 euros if you want to enjoy open-air motoring; the C300 starts from 50,150 euros and 58,100 euros respectively, which is also the case for the C 220 d variant, whose prices start from 47,100 and 55,000 euros; and last but not least, the C 43 AMG, a model that starts from 75,150 and 83,850 euros.
