Michelin launches two new summer tyres: the Primacy 5 energy and Pilot Sport 5 energy

Michelin presents the new range of summer tyres, the Primacy 5 energy and Pilot Sport 5 energy, each with a clear purpose

Although all-season tyres have been gaining followers and ground, summer tyres remain the kings of the road. In fact, according to Michelin, they still account for 80% of the French brand’s global sales. That is why, in a context where environmental, technological and economic challenges are transforming the way we move, Michelin is presenting two new summer tyre ranges: the Primacy 5 energy and the Pilot Sport 5 energy.

Michelin Primacy 5 energy

The Michelin Primacy saga continues its legacy with the new Primacy 5 energy, which now incorporate state-of-the-art technologies designed for new driving habits and powertrains, delivering improved performance overall.

The new Primacy 5 energy represent a major step forward over their predecessor, earning an A grade for wet braking, reducing braking distance by 8% compared with the previous model, and all of this while wear remains close to the replacement level. The A grade also comes from its acoustic comfort, which reduces road noise during driving by up to four times compared with a tyre rated C.

It also earns an A grade for rolling resistance, improving its energy efficiency. Michelin’s tests show, for example, a fuel saving of up to 6%, which translates into savings of up to 169 euros in fuel and avoids the emission of 357 kg of CO2. Or, taking an electric vehicle as an example, range increase of up to 10%, equating to up to 70 additional km per charge.

The new Michelin Primacy 5 energy can now be ordered from your trusted workshop, available in 33 sizes ranging from 16 to 19 inches.

Michelin Pilot Sport 5 energy

With the new Pilot Sport 5 energy, Michelin enters a largely unexplored territory: tyres that enable sporty driving without giving up maximum energy efficiency, combining the best of a performance tyre with the best of a long-lasting tyre.

The new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 energy features Dynamic Response technology, designed and tested for the combination with the new Michelin Grip Adaptive compound, maximising grip on both dry and wet surfaces. Added to this is MaxTouch technology, which addresses the challenge of rapid tyre wear on performance vehicles by optimising the tyre’s contact with the road for more even wear, combined with the Energy Passive compound in the tyre shoulders to reduce rolling resistance. This last feature earned the tyre an A rating and gives it a substantial lead over its direct competitors in terms of durability.

As with the previous models, the new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 energy can now be ordered, available in 19 sizes for rims ranging from 18 to 21 inches.
