Ferrari Convertibles Geneva Motor Show
More details on the Ferrari California replacement

Not much time is left to say goodbye to the current Ferrari California. Its replacement is about to arrive, and the test units are increasingly covered by less camouflage. The new model will be characterised by major innovations for the Italian brand, such as the controversial use of turbocharging. The British publication Autocar has released new information about the car, starting with the upcoming Geneva Motor Show as the event where it will be unveiled.
Its design will maintain the concept of the California but with the appropriate aesthetic changes. These will be noticeable above all at the front, which will inherit the headlights of the 458 Italia and some lines of the F12berlinetta in the nose, as well as in other areas of the bodywork. In addition, the rear will be slightly lower so as not to weigh too heavily on the eye.
The cabin will also change significantly, and its main novelties will lie in the redesigned dashboard and the completely updated multimedia system. As for the engine, the heart of the convertible will once again be a V8, only turbocharged, as we already anticipated at the beginning of 2013.
Ferrari will use as its base the same 3.8 V8 block from the new Maserati Quattroporte, but in the case of the California replacement its power will increase from 530 CV to 560. To the delight of the brand’s purists, the feared addition of a V6 engine to the range has finally been ruled out. Autocar claims that the price will barely increase compared with the California’s, and that Ferrari is already accepting the first reservations for delivering some units in May. Other interested buyers will have to wait until 2015.
