New BMW Series 2 Gran Coupé four-door front-wheel-drive
BMW has managed to surprise everyone with its latest major unveiling just a few hours ago. The new Series 2 Gran Coupé, combined with its new design, features 4 doors and front-wheel drive…
The new BMW Series 2 Gran Coupé comes loaded with novelties, novelties that the purists will possibly not fully be convinced by, but which nevertheless give more options for all kinds of audiences, adding versatility to the German manufacturer’s range.

This Saloon catches the eye from the outset, especially when we focus on its front end, where its fascia stands out for its aggressive character, thanks in part to the combination of its large grille, its imposing headlights, and the wide air intakes, typical of M models, which give the car personality without losing the essence of the manufacturer.
Especially striking is the fact that its design features four doors, favouring passenger comfort and moving away somewhat from a more sporty approach.

These features continue on its sides, where the M235i comes with 18” alloy wheels (19” wheels can even be obtained as an option), accompanied by a high-performance braking system and brake calipers with different colour options.
The model has character, with lines that favour its aerodynamics and wing mirrors partly made of carbon fibre.

The rear of the vehicle is the one that will generate the most discussion, opting for a somewhat more “rugged” design, larger, more robust, with a certain resemblance in fact to that of the Series 5.
The rear bumper also favours ventilation and features a double exhaust system which we are sure will produce a very pleasant sound…
The rear lights also draw attention thanks to their elongated and slim design and are well complemented at the top, where a small black spoiler takes centre stage to close off the design.

On the other hand, its interior design does not particularly stand out, being a very similar version to the one featured in the Series 1 of the manufacturer. Some details such as the steering wheel covered in Alcantara or the red marking in the centre give it a distinctive touch.
Customers will also be able to have pedals made of carbon fibre, exclusive M Performance floor mats, LED projectors in the doors, an intelligent M Performance key or bags also with exclusive M design to transport our wheels should we need to.
Under the bonnet we can expect several engine options, but for now we know of 2 variants. Both consist of a 2.0 turbo engine with four cylinders, with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

This is the point that may create the most controversy, since one of the most important aspects of the manufacturer is its famous rear-wheel drive, which is absent in this model, being able at most to opt for an undoubtedly sublime all-wheel drive option, or a boring front-wheel drive. Here, however, one can see the clear motivation of BMW in its proposal with a simpler and safer car to drive, especially in wet conditions.
The engine that the 228i will feature will have 228 CV and 349 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the standard engine found in the M235i has 302 CV and 450 Nm of torque. These are more than generous figures for enjoying a good time and a great surge of power, especially in the M235i version.

In the United States only the all-wheel drive version will be available. However, the platform of the BMW Series 2 Gran Coupé is based on the UKL front-wheel-drive platform, something fans have not been particularly fond of. Nevertheless, the manufacturer itself has assured that this new model will continue to deliver the characteristic driving experience of BMW.
