New engines for the Saab 9-5

Little by little the details about the new Saab 9-5 are being revealed, and this time we turn to engines, since the flagship of the Swedish brand gets two engines, a top-of-the-range 190 CV diesel and a 180 CV petrol unit.
As for the new diesel engine, it is the 2.0 TTiD of 190 CV, a revised version of the engine used by its sibling in the range, the 9-3. It is an engine that features two turbochargers of different sizes and an impressive torque of 400 Nm. We have already talked about this engine on several occasions, and only recently in the road test of the Lancia Delta, a powerplant that stands out for its response at low revs.
The consumption figure homologated for the Saab 9-5 with this 190 CV diesel engine is 6.0 l/100 km, and for the first time this engine can optionally be paired with all-wheel drive (Saab XWD).

The second engine offered in the 9-5 is the 1.6 Turbo engine of 180 CV, which has 230 Nm of torque and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. The homologated consumption of this engine is 7.8 litres per 100 km. Finally, in the petrol range we have the option of running several fuels with the 2.0-litre turbo BioPower engine, which can run on E85 fuel (85% bioethanol, 15% petrol), petrol, or any mixture of both.
As an option for vehicles equipped with an automatic gearbox there will be adaptive cruise control. The range is being completed little by little with new engines, but for the moment we do not know the prices these new engines will carry, though we are sure we will have all the details soon.
