New Hyundai i20: more equipment and goodbye to diesel
Hyundai updates its i20 range with styling changes and more safety equipment. The dual-clutch gearbox arrives, and the diesel engines disappear.
The Hyundai i20 is a very interesting car. For the price of a city car it offers an interior space closer to that of a compact, and the range includes 3-door and 5-door bodies, as well as a “dressed-up” SUV version, the Hyundai i20 Active, with exterior protections and a ground clearance raised by 2 centimetres.

Now, after three years on the market, Hyundai updates the i20, bringing changes to the exterior styling, the equipment and the engine range.
The exterior and interior changes of the new Hyundai i20
There are not many changes on the outside, beyond small styling details affecting the bumpers, the light clusters and the wheel design. The most significant is the arrival of a panoramic roof for the five-door versions. Ten body colours are offered, three of them new.

Inside, a new multimedia system with a 7-inch screen, and up to date in connectivity with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions, as well as new colours to personalise the dashboard.
With the SmartSense driver assistance package from Hyundai, the i20 can now include a lane departure warning system with lane keeping, automatic emergency braking inside and outside the city, and automatic high beams.
All petrol engines, the 1.0 with particulate filter
There are no new engines in the Hyundai i20 range, but there is one important novelty: the diesel options disappear, both the three-cylinder 1.1 and the four-cylinder 1.4 that were offered until now.

The petrol versions are retained: the naturally aspirated four-cylinder 1.2 in 75 and 84 CV versions, and the excellent three-cylinder 1.0 Turbo with 100 and 120 CV, now with particulate filter as standard to reduce emissions. For the 100 CV 1.0, as an alternative to the five-speed manual gearbox, some versions offer the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox from Hyundai. The more powerful 1.0 is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox.
