New Hyundai Santa Fe, greater safety and generous interior space with an almost premium finish
The fourth generation of the Hyundai SANTA FE arrives loaded with new active and passive safety systems, as well as generous interior space for its occupants.

Back in 2001, the first generation of the Hyundai SANTA FE made its debut. Since then, more than 400,000 units of this SUV have been sold. The fourth generation arrives with a completely redesigned look, improved finishes and is up to date in active and passive safety, in addition to offering customers a complete set of connectivity features.
Exteriorly, the new design style can be seen, already featured on other vehicles in the brand, highlighted by the new grille and LED daytime running lights placed at the top of the LED headlights. At the rear, the design of the bumper that houses the twin exhaust outlets stands out. With a length of 4,770 mm, a width of 1,890 mm and a wheelbase of 2,765 mm, the Hyundai SANTA FE offers generous space and comfort for its occupants. The front seats have extendable cushions and are adjustable in ten different positions, and the boot volume has been increased by 40 litres, raising its capacity up to 625 litres and offering greater flexibility for any need.

Its handling has been improved thanks to the development of the suspension and steering. This mainly affects responsiveness and stability of the vehicle, while also improving comfort and noise insulation. The suspension provides smoother driving, reducing impact and vibration to a minimum. The suspension has been stiffened and positioned more vertically to provide a longer travel distance, improving driving comfort. The optional self-levelling suspension system, constantly controls the driving height regardless of the vehicle’s load, through an autonomous levelling and damping system.
The HTRAC variable torque control developed by Hyundai, based on the four-wheel drive technology, allows the power delivery to the wheels to be controlled variably. It improves acceleration, stability and fuel efficiency. This system increases traction on snow, gravel and regular road surfaces, while improving performance in corners.
The new generation of the Hyundai SANTA FE draws on a large number of active safety and driver assistance systems thanks to the Hyundai SmartSense. It includes blind-spot collision warning, forward collision-avoidance assist with detection of vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, rear occupant alert, safe exit warning and speed limit information function.
The Rear Occupant Alert, monitors the rear seats and warns when they are no longer occupied. An ultrasonic sensor monitors the rear seats to detect movement from children or pets. The system is also activated when children are accidentally locked inside the car.

The Safety Exit Assist prevents accidents when doors are opened and a vehicle is approaching from behind. Using radar, the system detects approaching vehicles and warns the driver if a door is opened. When the driver tries to unlock the door locks and the system detects traffic approaching from behind, the car keeps the locks engaged and issues an audible warning.
As for infotainment, it features a 7″ LCD touchscreen system with which passengers can use their smartphone’s navigation without having to rely on a built-in navigator. The system recognises the passenger’s voice, allowing them to dictate messages or make phone calls. The Display Audio also includes an integrated rear-view camera with dynamic guidelines and towing view.

The optional 8″ navigation system integrates all navigation, multimedia and connectivity functions, in addition to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Live Services. For its part, the Display Audio function allows passengers to connect their smartphone using the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps. The navigation system also features 3D maps and Lifetime Mapcare exclusive to Hyundai Motor, with free annual maps and software updates included.
The engines available for this fourth generation of the SANTA FE are: the 2.4-litre Theta II petrol engine, delivering 185 CV of power and 241 Nm of torque. In addition, it is now available with a six-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. The diesel variants feature the R2.0, offered with two power outputs: 150 CV and 182 CV. The engine can be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, available with front-wheel or all-wheel drive; or the newly developed eight-speed automatic gearbox, only for the four-wheel drive version.
The other diesel engine available is the 2.2 CRDi, which produces 197 CV of power, 436 Nm of torque and is available with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic gearbox with front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
