New images of the Audi TT Roadster in the snow

A few months ago we discovered that the powerful Audi TT would lose its roof in one of its new versions, and after its presentation at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, we can now see it shining through a thick, cold layer of snow in the new promotional images that the German brand has sent us.

The Audi TT Roadster is the only vehicle in its class that offers all-wheel drive, which in Audi’s language is called quattro. According to Audi, this represents a considerable advantage over other similar models, something the manufacturer wants to emphasise. Nor has it wanted the comfort and performance typical of this coupé to be reduced by the retractable roof, so it has been engineered so that it does not appear to be one.

That is to say, it is soundproof and uses aluminium, steel and plastic to shape it. It is durable, and it folds away so that it can be stored in a special compartment that does not reduce the 280 litres of boot space. This roof weighs 39 kg, about 3 kg less than in the previous model, and it is more efficient at reducing noise, as it makes the cabin 6 dB quieter than the previous one.

Under the bonnet are the same engines as in the rest of this coupé’s versions. The first is a 2.0 TDI engine with 184 CV. The second is a 2.0 TFSI engine that raises the output to 230 CV. There is also the TTS version, which uses the 2.0 TFSI engine with 310 CV and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.

Comfort in this Audi TT Roadster is also evident with the roof down, as the seats feature neck-area heating, allowing the driver and other occupants to stay comfortable even when driving in winter with the roof lowered.
