New images of the Toyota Hybrid-R, based on the Yaris

Toyota has once again shown us images of the Hybrid-R, a concept car it will present at the Frankfurt Motor Show, one month from now. It is just another appetiser ahead of the festival of new releases awaiting us in a few weeks.
In this case, it is only one image that the brand provides, although it is enough to draw numerous conclusions consistent with the data accompanying this photograph.
Thanks to this new “clue” from the Japanese manufacturer, we find a prototype based on a production model, specifically the city car Yaris. It is another demonstration of what an urban model can offer when sportiness comes into play. Apart from the bodywork based on the Yaris, we find a powertrain with great similarities to that of the TS030 Hybrid concept, another exercise by the brand focused on racing.

Toyota also confirms that the Hybrid-R’s powertrain consists of a combustion engine combined with a pair of electric motors, which pushes its total output above 400 CV. All that power is channelled through a dual driving system that modifies the vehicle’s response depending on driving conditions.
More technical details are expected at the German show next month; for now we must settle for this hybrid Yaris, whose “steroids” have given it a look that is very, very fierce.
