New MINI Clubman: update for the most family-friendly MINI
The new 2019 MINI Clubman range features changes affecting its exterior and interior design, as well as its equipment and personalisation options.
The MINI Clubman is, with the permission of the MINI Countryman, the most family-oriented version of the MINI range. It is also the least attractive aesthetically. And it is not easy to combine the concept of a family car, with rear doors and space for passengers and luggage, while maintaining the “spirit” of the original Mini. Something the 3-door MINI achieves in exemplary fashion.
Externally, the new 2019 MINI Clubman features a front with a newly designed grille that extends across much of the bumper. The S and SD versions include a hexagonal-design grille, unlike the horizontal bars of the rest.

The headlights have also been redesigned and remain halogen as standard. Optionally, you can fit LED headlights and, as a novelty, the range now includes self-adaptive LED headlights with Matrix function for high beam. At the rear, LED light clusters are standard.

Other aesthetic novelties include three new body colours, in red, black or green tones. The roof and mirror caps can be painted in black, white or silver. New alloy wheel designs are available, and the exterior “Piano Black” option for the S and SD allows greater personalisation, with the headlight surrounds, rear lights and grille in gloss black instead of chrome. Not to mention all the options included in the MINI Yours programme.

Also new is the option of a sports suspension with specific settings, which lowers the bodywork by 10 mm. The improvements are completed by the new infotainment features offered by the optional Connected Navigation equipment, with a 6.5-inch colour screen, which becomes 8.8 inches on Plus versions.
Six engines to choose from, optional ALL4 all-wheel drive
The engine choices for the MINI Clubman include petrol and diesel versions, with three and four cylinders, and power outputs from 75 kW (102 hp) up to 141 kW (192 hp).
- In petrol, entry to the range is the MINI One Clubman, with 75 kW (102 CV). It is followed by the MINI Cooper Clubman at 100 kW (136 CV), and the Cooper S Clubman at 141 kW (192 CV). The first two are three-cylinder, and the most powerful is four-cylinder.
- The diesel range starts with the MINI One D Clubman with three cylinders and 85 kW (116 CV), followed by the Cooper D Clubman and Cooper SD Clubman, with four cylinders and power of 110 kW (150 CV) and 140 kW (190 CV) respectively.
The most powerful versions, the Cooper S and Cooper SD, can optionally be fitted with ALL4 all-wheel drive. For the One, Cooper, Cooper S and One D, the 7-speed Steptronic gearbox is offered as an alternative to the standard 6-speed manual.

For the “touring” approach of the MINI Clubman, the most recommended versions, if you don’t need the sporty character of the “S” variants, are the Cooper and Cooper D. They offer the best balance between performance and consumption, and you won’t be short of power when travelling with a loaded car.
