New spy images of the Porsche 911 (991)
We’ll have to wait until September, when the Frankfurt Motor Show takes place, to see and touch the new Porsche 911. Only a few months remain, and they will pass quickly because the 997 saga has not yet had its final say (for more information, see this article).
In the meantime, Porsche continues its battery of tests and in this case has been spotted at the Nürburgring Nordschleife (nicknamed The Green Hell), fine-tuning the new generation to the maximum.
The obsessive determination with which Porsche works to keep cutting lap times on this circuit, a trend that intensified with the arrival of the Nissan GT-R, will be reflected in a profound redesign of the 911.
From a distance there will be no problem recognising that we are looking at a 911, since the characteristic features of the lineage will be kept, although the photos show a fuller, more rounded rear end than the current generation’s. The 56 mm of extra length, the 11 mm reduction in height and a wheelbase stretched by 10 mm will also be noticeable in the exterior design.
The base engine (Carrera version) will be a 6-cylinder boxer with 3.4 litres of displacement and 350 CV of maximum power. For its part, the Carrera S engine will benefit from a 0.4-litre increase in displacement and a higher output that will reach 400 CV.
