New York Show: Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid

The New York Show has been the chosen venue to unveil the new Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid, a genuine first for the brand as it is its first hybrid to go on sale.

One of the debuts presented at the New York Show is the hybrid version of the Subaru XV Crosstrek. It is the first model of this kind that the Japanese manufacturer is launching on the market.

An electric motor is added to the base of a Subaru XV Crosstrek and, together with the conventional naturally aspirated 2.0 Boxer engine, makes this a hybrid XV.

The 2.0 Boxer delivers 150 CV, while the electric motor adds an extra 10 kW, or roughly 13.5 CV. As a hybrid, it can run in electric-only mode, although it is still unknown up to what speed and how much electric range it offers.

In its exterior, the Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid can be told apart from the rest of its siblings in the range by its rear lights, a new diffuser, specific alloy wheels and the green colour chosen for its bodywork.

The new Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid will reach the North American market in autumn of this same year and, although Subaru has not yet commented on the matter, I don’t think we will see this XV in Europe in the short term.
