Next-generation Ford Explorer spotted
The new Ford Explorer due in three years is already in testing, as these spy photos confirm. The spotted unit uses the bodies of the Taurus X and Edge as a provisional shell for the first stages of its development.
The 2011 Explorer will be built on the D3 platform that it will share with the Taurus and Taurus X. Its design is expected to take cues from the Explorer America Concept prototype presented at the Detroit Motor Show in January of this year. There is still a long wait for the first details on this new generation, so we’ll have to wait and hope that Ford survives the current crisis better than its compatriot GM.
