Nick Reilly starts a blog where he will write about the progress of Opel/Vauxhall

The new interim CEO of Opel/Vauxhall, Nick Reilly, has only been at work for a few days since Carl-Peter Forster stepped down, but he has not stopped holding meetings to keep developing the future plan of the German brand.
Specifically, over the last ten days he has been travelling non-stop to all the countries in Europe where Opel/Vauxhall has plants. After speaking with representatives of the respective governments, unions, works councils, workers and journalists, he has decided to begin writing about his new experiences on a blog so that readers can also share their opinions.
Reilly explains in the first post of “Driving Conversations“, the name of the blog, that he is aware of the ordeal the employees of the German manufacturer have gone through and are still going through, many of whom still fear for their jobs.
Likewise, he knows they want to learn as soon as possible about General Motors’ plans regarding future products, possible synergies with Chevrolet in Europe and, above all, how it will affect them. The first point Reilly makes clear is that Opel/Vauxhall will have to reduce its production capacity across Europe by between 20 and 25%.
He then confirms that next week he will meet in Brussels with representatives of the European Union and of the governments of the countries with the brands’ plants. Finally, he wants to stress that General Motors is aware that time is running out very quickly, which is why they intend to have the plan for Opel/Vauxhall ready by mid-December.
