Nissan celebrates Clean Air Day by handing out ice creams with its Nissan e-NV200
It is called the Nissan e-NV200 Ice Cream Concept and has a 40 kWh battery capable of delivering a range of 200 kilometres.

Nissan celebrates Clean Air Day by handing out ice creams with its Nissan e-NV200. The brand has just partnered with Mackie’s of Scotland, an ice cream producer, with the aim of developing a new zero-emission show car. With a name fitting for the concept of ice cream, the new prototype is based on the Nissan e-NV200, to which some updates have been added to make it suitable for its delicious job.
The rear of the electric light commercial vehicle has been turned into an ice cream van, featuring a side-opening door. The salesperson can stand inside it while serving ice cream, instead of the usual position behind the counter. Customers can pay in cash, but can also use contactless bank cards and smartphones via the tap-to-pay panel located on the side.

All of the ice cream equipment, including the freezer drawer, the drinks fridge and the soft-serve machine, runs on the Nissan Energy Roam, the portable battery, which goes on sale at the end of this year. It features lithium-ion cells sourced from the first-generation electric cars of Nissan.
It has a combined storage capacity of 1.4 kWh, can be charged using the solar panel on the roof, and would take between two and four hours to recharge. It can also be charged through a 230 V socket in approximately one hour.

The Nissan e-NV200 Ice Cream Concept uses the same battery as the production model, with a capacity of 40 kWh. Furthermore, when fully charged, the Nissan electric van has a total range of up to 200 kilometres under the WLTP homologation cycle.
Kalyana Sivagnanam, managing director of Nissan UK, commented that “everyone loves ice cream, but consumers are increasingly aware of the environmental impact of how we produce this kind of product, as well as the local transport needed to distribute it”.
“This project is a perfect example of Nissan’s Smart Mobility strategy, which draws on more than a decade of experience with electric cars and progress in battery technology to create cleaner solutions, with the aim of delivering mobile electricity in ways customers would not expect. By eliminating tailpipe pollutants and increasing the use of renewable energy, we can help make the world better for everyone.”
Karin Hayhow, marketing director of Mackie’s of Scotland, said “we are delighted to have worked with Nissan on this project, as it perfectly complements our own vision of self-sustainability through renewable energy, while eliminating carbon throughout the ice cream production process. At Mackie’s we have already moved from relying on fossil fuels to using clean renewable energy. We now export 4.5 times more energy to the grid than we consume. This year we will go even further with our vision by installing a new, innovative low-carbon cooling system. We are very proud to be an ‘environmentally friendly’ ice cream manufacturer.”
