Nissan Navara, a pick-up that gets updated for the new decade

One of the most popular pick-ups, the Nissan Navara, is updated for the 2021 model year and features a more dynamic and attractive look to appeal to buyers

The Nissan Navara is one of the most popular pick-ups on the market and, with the arrival of 2021, it comes in a new version, with substantial changes to its styling. The aim has been to strengthen the front end to give it a more attractive and powerful look, something these models want to have in order to offer that aesthetic for hard and active work. Let’s see what has changed in this model and what we can find in the new look of the Japanese pick-up.

A reinforced front end

The front has changed quite a lot and features, above all, a new grille with embossed elements that give the whole a more aggressive look. The logo is positioned across the upper two-thirds of the grille and is quite visible, leaving no room for doubt that this is a pick-up truck Nissan.

Alongside the new grille are new LED daytime running lights in the form of two separate light lines. The headlights have also been updated and offer better visibility, both for the driver and so that other vehicles can easily identify the pick-up.

If we look at the rear lighting block, there are changes too, making it more modern and attractive while providing greater functionality. The design is retained, but LED technology has been added to the equation. The rear bumper also gives a more robust image, with a step. The tailgate has also been updated, as have the wheel arches, which follow the line of the rest of the design.

New interior

Being a model intended for work is no obstacle to comfort and on-board technology. One of the main additions is a screen located in the instrument cluster, something already found on other models from the Japanese brand. For its part, the 8-inch central screen includes connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, something that was missing in earlier versions.

The steering wheel design has also changed, with a considerably more modern style and a slightly smaller size. The seats have received improvements and features have been added to increase comfort, such as an armrest on the rear bench. There are more USB sockets in several spaces, for the mobile devices we all carry with us.

Safety equipment

A c360º camera helps with manoeuvres at low speed and provides extra safety on off-road routes, but it also includes several driver assistance systems. For example, there is a forward collision warning system, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot alert and around view monitor.

Changes to the load area

The new Nissan Navara has reinforced the rear axle, and this allows its load capacity to increase, making it more practical. The steering has also been improved and performs better in off-road conditions, while reducing vibration and noise, which is also very useful when driving over more demanding terrain.

To mark the launch of the new version of the Nissan Navara, the top-of-the-range PRO-4X has been presented for buyers looking for a more attractive and sporty version. It features a sporty roll bar and other customised elements inside and out.

This new version of the Nissan Navara is expected to launch in Japan and reach the rest of the markets over the course of the year. What we don’t know is the starting price, not even in the local market.
