Nissan shows the first images of the new electric Micra
In its sixth generation, the popular Nissan Micra is set to become a fully electric city car with its own style, standing out among traffic in European cities.
It has been a long wait, but here it is. Nissan has finally unveiled the exterior design of the much-anticipated sixth-generation Micra, which this time will feature a fully electric powertrain. This model will debut in the European market this year, alongside a new all-electric Juke.
The new Nissan Micra will use the CMF-B EV platform, also known as AmpR Small, the same one used by the Renault 5 E-Tech. It therefore seems quite likely that the technical specifications of both models will be fairly similar. Designed specifically for European customers at the Japanese manufacturer’s studio in the United Kingdom, this model stands out for its bold yet simple style, which will surely attract attention in urban settings.

Although for now Nissan has only published these images and has not revealed any technical specifications, there is speculation that this new electric Micra could be offered with the same powertrain and battery pack configuration as the Renault 5 E-Tech. If so, we would be talking about a 70 kW motor, paired with a 40 kWh battery pack for the entry-level version of the range. This would allow it to travel around 300 km on a single charge.
At the top of the range, Nissan could offer a Nismo version of this new Micra, inspired by the Alpine A290, which could reach 160 kW of power and be capable of reaching 100 km/h from a standstill in about 6.5 seconds, making it one of the most fun-to-drive compact electric cars.
It won’t go unnoticed
As for its design, there is little more to say, since a picture is worth a thousand words. Everything points to the Japanese manufacturer having sought to differentiate this new Micra from its electric sibling, the Renault 5, ultimately achieving a look that is somewhat reminiscent of the MINI Cooper. In any case, at least in our opinion, it is an attractive vehicle that should fit well with the tastes of European buyers.

Finally, it should be noted that Nissan’s plans for Europe involve offering a total of four electric models starting next year. The electric Micra will be joined by a new Juke with the same powertrain. The Japanese manufacturer’s range will be completed by the current Ariya and a redesigned Leaf that will become a crossover.
